Update: How Tenant Turner Protects Your Listings from Fraud
Roughly 1 in 5 listings online has a fraudulent duplicate somewhere, designed to catch a renter off guard and collect a deposit for a property the scammer doesn’t control.
When it works, the applicant pays a deposit and never gets the key, and your brand’s name is attached to a scam you had nothing to do with.
Tenant Turner’s fraud prevention efforts have been ongoing on multiple fronts for as long as we’ve existed. But scammers change tactics, and with AI, they’re getting more sophisticated.
Here are two of our most recent updates that build on an already-strong foundation of security features.
Property Shield: Continuous Monitoring, Built into Your Workflow
The newest addition to Tenant Turner’s security arsenal is Property Shield, an integration that provides continuous listing monitoring, automated alerts, and centralized fraud reporting, all inside the platform.
Once enabled, Property Shield scans online listings, social media, and public marketplaces to identify fake ads, impersonation attempts, and unauthorized use of your listing data.
When something suspicious turns up, you’re alerted with recommended next steps — not just a flag with no path forward.
Fraud incidents and monitoring analytics sit alongside your leasing performance data in a unified dashboard, so fraud visibility isn’t a separate tool you have to remember to check.
How to Activate Property Shield
You can enable Property Shield from your Tenant Turner dashboard, with per-property pricing shown at checkout.
Click Account > Add-ons, then scroll down to enable Property Shield.

A Second Layer: Verifying Identity at the Scheduling Staged
Property Shield’s monitoring solution catches listing fraud in the wild. But fraud can also show up during the booking process on your legitimate listings.
Tenant Turner fights this by requiring names on the prospect’s provided ID to closely match the name they provide at sign-up.
If it’s not a match, the booking is created as a requested showing rather than being automatically scheduled, which gives your team a chance to review it.
It’s a small check with an outsized impact, allowing you to catch suspicious mismatches before they become an issue.
Building on a Strong Foundation of Fraud Prevention
None of this starts from zero. These updates layer on top of fraud controls that have been part of the default Tenant Turner workflow for a while, including:
- ID verification on every lead, with VOIP scanning and email verification built in.
- Blocklisting by phone number, email, and/or ID.
- Access and audit logs for every self-access event, so there’s a record of who accessed what and when.
- Support for major lockbox systems — SentriLock, CodeBox, Seros, iglooworks, PointCentral, and combo locks — with time-limited, property-specific access codes.
- Custom anti-fraud acknowledgement messaging, so renters see a clear warning before they engage.
Fraud Protection Isn’t One Feature — It’s a System
No single update or feature does the whole job of preventing scams alone. Unfortunately, this is an ever-evolving thread. But you can bet Tenant Turner will remain on the leading edge, building a layered, continuously updated infrastructure to protect you, your brand, and your renters.
